Son of Man Jesus

Son of Man Jesus creates parallels with the imagery of Rene Magritte's The Son of Man painting, to illuminate the meaning behind the life of the man, Jesus. The apple combined with the appearance of a snake from within it connects the viewer to the tree of knowledge from the Garden of Eden in Genesis while the obscuration of the face alludes to the controversy concerning his identity and mission.
The lightening and skull to the man's left refers to the death of separation from the creator that came from the fall of man along with the declaration Jesus made in Luke 10:18 that he "saw Satan fall like lightening from heaven." The Tree to the right hand of the man signifies the tree he was hung from to his death, namely the cross, with the bird being the gold finch that was rumored to have been at the cross during his death. The broken wall depicts the verse Ephesians 2:24 that speaks of the results of the cross being that "He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation."
